Resort Housing > Deer Run, Whistler BC
This project of 33 townhouses is grouped into four buildings terraced down a hillside with views to Blackcomb and Whistler Mountains. It is the last development in the multiple family housing community of Blueberry Hill. Adjacent projects are designed in a variety of styles. Deer Run was conceived to appear as though it predated the existing projects, and that they had drawn inspiration from its more traditional features. Each building has parking underground with access to the units via exterior stairs and walkways. The site presented opportunities to design varying outdoor spaces. The buildings were designed to allow and encourage individual expression through ornamentation over time. This project was the first one to use Hardie panel siding in Whistler as a solution to the maintenance and flammability issues in a resort environment.
